Today's Digital SLR cameras allow both novice and experienced photographers to create some truly amazing images. If you are new to DSLR photography this class is for you. We will teach you everything you need to know to become successful at picture taking with your DSLR no matter which model or brand you choose. In this class you will learn all about the features and attachments available for today's DSLR. We will cover topics such as camera setup, working with lens, camera handling, lens, mirror and sensor cleaning, proper memory card usage and setup, resolution adjustments, and scene modes and more....
This is a hands-on class and you are expected to bring your cameras to class. We will be taking pictures and demonstrating different techniques along the way.

This is the followup class to DSLR101 and allows users to continue to improve their camera handling and setup skills. In this class we will be taking an in-depth look at scene modes including the four priority modes (M,A,S,P - nikon) or (M,AV,TV,P - canon). We will discuss the methods for modifying how our cameras deal with light including, ISO, White Balance, Aperture, and Shutterspeed. We will also cover some other related topics such as exposure compensation, shooting modes, focus, and metering. This is a hands on class and you should bring your camera and its accessories. We will be taking pictures in class for discussion so be prepared to shoot.

Cricut Expression Class - 3/27/2010 -

This class will review all of the advanced operations features on the Cricut Expressions machine (this is the 24” electronic cutter from Provocraft). We'll review all of the new features available on this machine such as Portrait Mode, Mix N Match, Quantity, Fit to Page, Fit to Length, and AutoFill. This class will also help you master using the additional functions Multi-cut, Center Point, Line Return, and Flip.
We'll work mostly with the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and the Accent Essentials cartridges that comes with the Expressions. I’ll also review using the “End Caps” and “EndCaps Shadow” functions on the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge since this cartridge has about 12 different types of End Caps options. Since this class focuses on the additional features of the Expressions, you should consider taking the basic class first if you aren’t familiar with the main keyboard, Creative Features (shadowing), Real Dial Size, speed/pressure settings, etc.
Please bring -- your Cricut Expressions, the Plantin Schoolbook and Accent Essentials cartridges, cricut mat, scissors, paper trimmer, scratch cardstock/pattern paper, your regular adhesive (Kokuyo/Zig pen/Xyron X) for putting your samples together (time permitting we'll experiment with other fonts at the end of class, so you can bring other cartridges if you wish).

This is the followup class to DSLR 102. This course moves on from the basics of light and covers different ways the photographer can manipulate light. Some of the topics we will cover include bracketing, metering and focus control, exposure and focus lock, custom menu and button setup. We will also discuss flash photography and explain how you can utilize artificial light to help with you photos. We will cover real-world shooting scenarios and explain how to set your camera for the best results.

In this outdoor shooting workshop, we will be taking pictures at two local parks. The first will be to capture a sporting event and the second will be to capture nature images. We will be gathering before the shoot to talk about camera settings and lighting. We will work with shutterspeed settings to determine how to stop motion within the boundaries of the available light. For the nature shoot, we will discuss how aperture can affect depth-of-field and be used to our artistic advantage. After the shoot we will discuss what we saw and the challenges we faced trying to capture images.
